CAMS Affiliation

Our club is CAMS affiliated (as of April 2006), which allows us to run professional motor sport events at all of the best motor sport locations in Western Australia. Our motor sport events are open to both members and non-members and include driver training days, hill climbs and timed events. Driver training days give drivers the opportunity to come to the track and have someone sit in their car with them while they learn the track. Hill climbs and other timed events are the next step up where you can get into a bit of competition. We also encourage people to get involved by becoming a CAMS Official (e.g., Flag Marshal, First Aid, Administration, Scrutineer, Steward or Clerk of Course (CoC). Our club provides a great opportunity to learn the basics of being an official and these professional qualifications can be upgrade right up to the national level. To view more details on CAMS Officials here.

One of the benefits of being a CAMS affiliated club, our members who wish to obtain and maintain a CAMS license can nominate WRX Club of WA as the CAMS Member Club on the license application form.

It is recommended that first time applicants apply for their Level 2 licence directly through the club in order to gain the instant benefit of a temporary 30-day licence endorsed by the club. This allows the licence holder to compete immediately whilst CAMS processes their licence application. Contact event organisers here for a temporary licence application.

A CAMS license application form and member portal for CAMS Licence renewals is available on the CAMS web site here.

Who are we?

WRX Club of Western Australia is a club for enthusiast owners and drivers.

Whilst our roots are with the fantastic WRX & STi and other Subaru performance vehicles, we’re open to members with performance vehicles of all makes and models.

We’re proud to say that we’re a club for ‘enthusiast owners’ rather than the vehicles themselves. There’s no better way to improve your driving skills, increase your motoring knowledge and have a whole lot of fun, than to join with others who share the same passion.

The club is supported by Subaru (Aust.) Limited. The benefits of being the only officially supported WRX club in Western Australia have been a close relationship for all things Subaru. In past years, the club had access to Subaru Rally Team Australia (SRTA) members when they are over in WA for Forest Rally. Many members had the privilege of meeting Possum Bourne, Mark Stacey, Cody Crocker & Greg Follett and more recently Dean Herridge (our club patron) & Glenn MacNeal. We also had a close relationship with Subaru World Rally Team (SWRT) and many members met Juha Kankunnen, Juha Repo, Tommi Makinen, Kaj Lindstrom, Petter Solberg and Phil Mills when they had been in Perth for Rally Australia.

What kind of things does the club do?

Our event calendar includes a wide range of social, spectator, driving and motor sport events for our members. Events include BBQs, spectating at major motor sport events, Super Cruises (leisurely weekend cruises) to popular tourist and motor sport locations, static car displays and other interesting events for car enthusiasts.

On the motorsport side, the club gets involved in various sprint series, hill climbs, motorkhanas and of cause tarmac rallies including Quit Targa West. A number of our members have held a amateur motorsport championship titles over the years. While the majority of the club members participate in the social calendar, a contingent are very active in motor sport circles and are always happy to show new members the ropes.
